Autism Society of East TN recently received this request for survey participation in an autism research project. Hello. My name is Kevin Carroll. I am a student at Yorktown High School in Westchester County, NY.
In doing background research on strategies for helping children with an Autism Spectrum Disorder, I found that there is a lot of research on stress in caregivers of children with autism and on support groups. What struck me was that there are very few support groups that emphasize the reduction of parental stress, which may weaken treatment outcome for both the child and the parent. My goal is to address this gap in research. In order to achieve my goal, again, I need your help in reaching out to the members of your support group. Completion of the survey is anonymous and voluntary. I am hoping that this research may help us to design a new model of autism support groups and parental training workshops, which will hopefully address a myriad of issues that families with autism face. Here is the link to the Survey. If you have any questions and/or would like to receive the results in the upcoming months, please email me or email my teacher, Mr. Blueglass. Thank you very much, Kevin Carroll
