Blount County

Dream New Dreams – Special Needs Support Group meets every Wednesday from 6:30 – 8pm at Fairview United Methodist Church in Maryville, TN. For more information, contact Lisa Wyrick at: dlwyrick@netzero.net .

Horses Enabling Autistic Learners (HEAL) Support Group meets the 1st and 3rd Monday of each month from 4-6pm in Maryville.  This group provides parents/guardians, siblings, and children affected by Autism with a supportive and therapeutic environment through the use of horses, art, and discussion.  For more information:  www.manesupport.org or (865) 233-3090.

Bradley County

Hamilton County

Greater Chattanooga Aspies (GCA) is a support/social group for adults with officially diagnosed High Functioning Autism/Asperger’s in Chattanooga.  Support group meetings are the 3rd Thursday of each month from 6-8pm with a speaker and support group time.  Socials monthly. Social Group for Chattanooga Teens affected by Asperger’s.  Started by local parents, meets regularly.  For more information, call (423) 544-9964.

Mothers Moving Mountains Support Group for families facing Autism and other special needs meets the 2nd Saturday of each month at Nutrition World’s classroom: 6201 Lee Hwy, Chat. TN 37421 from 1 – 3.  Their meetings include education, information, family fun, etc.  Children welcome at all meetings.  This month’s topic is “Feasting and Food Allergies”, with facilitator Lisa Dupree, M.Ed. Awesome Autism Support Group is sponsored by Siskin Center in Chattanooga and it meets the last Monday of each month from 6-8 pm at the Ronald McDonald House, 200 Central Ave, Chattanooga, TN.  This support group is for families or individuals affected by Autism Spectrum issues.  The meeting is for sharing resources and ideas.  Contact: Jackie Benkert: (423) 886-5430 or awesome_autism@yahoogroups.com

 

Knox County

K-Town Family to Family Support Group is for family members and friends of those who are suffering with emotional and behavioral challenges. Meetings are the second Thursday of each month from 6 – 7:30pm in Knoxville. They offer a chance to talk with others who understand and can give emotional support, plus share ways to cope, exceed expectations, and achieve dreams. Tennessee School for the Deaf Sibling Program is a support group that serves the siblings of individuals with Autism and other disabilities. Meetings are held every 6-8 weeks for children ages 8-13 years old.  For more information contact Tina Prochaska at (865) 579-2429.

 

Loudon County

Tri-Cities

Autism Society of East Tennessee (ASA-ETC) Tri Cities Parent Support Group meets the 1st Tuesday of every month from 6:30-8:30pm at First Presbyterian Church in Elizabethton, Childcare available only with advance RSVP.  For more information and to RSVP, contact Angela Presnell at: angelapresnell2@yahoo.com or (423) 557-8031.

Mountain Empire Aspies is a social group for adults (18+) with Asperger’s, PDD-NOS, and high Functioning Autism.  They meet every other Saturday in Johnson City.  Usually there is a separate lounge available for family members who provide transportation for attendees.  For more information, contact:  mtnempireaspies@gmail.com or www.mountainempireaspies.org .

P.E.A.P. – Parents Educating and Assisting Parents is a support group for parents, grandparents & foster parents of children with Autism / Asperger’s Syndrome.  Meetings are held the second Tuesday of each month from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. at Mountain Region Speech & Hearing Center in Kingsport. Families and Siblings United provides support group, information, education and fun for families of children and youth with disabilities (and those individuals).
